The 20 Books I MUST Read in 2014

Power 20 Books for 2014
As I shared at the end of last year on my personal blog, there were 3 books I wanted to read to close out 2013[please see “My 2013 Year-end Book Reading Schedule”].  I had hoped to finish them all before this New Year; however, that didn’t happen.  I was able to finish one and make some decent progress in another before the 31st. The second title, I just finished last week.
Since I was so close to my goal, I started to put my reading list for 2014 together.   I had been actually racking my brain to decide on my first 20… It was my hope that once I finished reading the first batch to increase the number in small increments throughout the year.  Last year’s count was unofficially 35 books read.  See, I have boxes of books that I had shipped with me from New York when I moved to Houston at the top of 2013.  It’s just a fraction of my library, but its plenty enough for me to read for the next 2-3 years!  On top of that, I have acquired a few e-books and Kindle editions of titles.  So, as you can see I am certainly not without reading materials.
Compiling this list was vital to me because I am a “Purpose Driven Reader”.  Learning and gaining more practical knowledge is my truest passion and reading is a way to it.
I have to laugh at myself though because God gave me the list back in December, on the 7th.  Last week, I had decided to steal a few additional minutes alone to meditate, quiet my thoughts and review my journal. I wasn’t looking for anything particularly.  I was just scanning through the pages, and there was the "20 Books I MUST Read in 2014" smack dabbed in the middle of it.  I have been faithfully keeping a journal for as long as I can remember.  This specific one I use exclusively to capture my thoughts when I have my quiet times. This journal is fairly new. I only started writing in it at the end of November.
Earlier in that day I had enough sense to ask in prayer for guidance to what I should be reading… And I was led right back to what the Lord had already told me.
I have listed the titles below for those interested in reading along with me.  They are not in any particular order outside of the first 3-5 titles.
